TelBru Selects Aptilo for Nationwide Carrier Wi-Fi Network

STOCKHOLM – Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru), the leading service provider in Brunei, has selected Aptilo Networks to enable carrier Wi-Fi for its Nationwide Wi-Fi service. TelBru’s Wi-Fi network will deploy nationwide through more than 60 Wi-Fi hotspots.

The Aptilo Service Management Platform™ (SMP) enables carrier Wi-Fi in a highly scalable platform, supporting rapid growth of the Wi-Fi network. Users enjoy a seamless Wi-Fi experience that offers “invisible” handoffs when roaming between Wi-Fi hotspots.

“Aptilo’s proven track record of success with carrier Wi-Fi made them the right choice for TelBru,” said Mr. Lim Ming Soon, Chief Marketing Officer of TelBru.

Initially, users will enjoy 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi after requesting an SMS code. Shortly after, TelBru will enable prepaid access through vouchers, and postpaid access for existing users of TelBru’s fixed wireless service.

TelBru will monetize the network by enabling Wi-Fi services to verticals such as sports venues, airports and coffee shops. They will also offer wholesale capacity to MNOs and establish roaming agreements with operators overseas to further expand their customer base.

“Carrier Wi-Fi is key to customer retention, and is also a compelling business-to-business proposition that generates revenue for carriers,” said Jan Sjönell, Managing Director APAC, Aptilo Networks. “We are proud to work with TelBru on this exciting project.”
