Intelligent Connection of Users & Network & App Data
Use cases for real-time measurement of user quality of connection & engagement with the network for apps and data traffic. Qualified by application activity (streaming, voice, data access, gaming etc.), and network location (connectivity). Get a real measure of new activity both from an individual user, geographic area and overall network level. Using data for capacity management, quality service level agreements for enterprise, and to develop the number one (#1) network experience. Define what is critical to measure from the network, tailored for individual user access policies and enable intelligent network and connection traffic management, as needed, in real-time.
Combine application, connection, internet and network data with subscriber information to give intelligent – context driven – insight into how users’ are connecting via the mobile data service.
Indexing quality of experience – to provide a measure and comparison of activity across users, apps and a wide geographic network is not easy. The network bandwidth and connectivity parameters are different for browsing versus streaming video versus voice call versus gaming for example. The context of the mobile user becomes critical – not just what they are using the internet/web services for but from where they are using those services (their mobility).
There is no one size fits all – so understanding what needs to be measured and why – and then how it is indexed and normalized for comparison is critical. Enea data traffic analytics enables the flexibility to define what’s important locally and at a network level and measure, record and action.
Making it easier to understand apps can be indexed 1..5 where 5 is a perfect experience – ultimately the choice is yours, to create the index and monitor the apps which are important to your network. We know there is no perfect network out there, we can only get better and watch, improve and change over time.
As an example you may not want to watch all of the apps user’s activate every day – perhaps it is WhatsApp, YouTube and Instagram Reels. Alternately you may not want to see all users – perhaps it is enterprise customers only with specific service level agreements or it may not be all of the network – it may be just certain busy locations at certain times of day. The combination of what information the network owner’s and managers want to see and when they want to see it becomes critical. Too much data and it becomes a cost centre sinkhole just to store with no value, no information coming out.
Let the dataset Enea provide, guide you as to what can be obtained about the context of data connectivity, at the time of that connection. Save time and money, avoiding too much post-transactional processing trying to map activity to time, to location. A real time dashboard can provide the overall view to jump into specific apps, locations and types.
One key area is measuring the activity with an app – specifically how much voice traffic has moved to an in-app experience. Critical from a revenue and capacity planning perspective understanding overall application behaviour can provide real insight into how the network data capacity will evolve and how much large content providers are changing their app experience!
In this case, users who consume a VOIP for longer than average behaviour could be a potential source of fraud(see our recent insight trend article).
Traffic Management, Optimization is about control of the network and understanding data access – use the Enea Tools to help you!
