Enea and MATRIXX Partner on 5G Core to Accelerate Monetization
Combined solution supports edge-based applications and services delivered through network slicing
Enea, a global supplier of innovative software components for telecommunications and cybersecurity, today announced that it has partnered with MATRIXX Software, provider of next-generation, real-time converged rating and charging for 5G. The combination of Enea’s Policy Manager and MATRIXX Software’s 5G Converged Charging System gives operators a turnkey, cloud-native policy and charging solution for 4G and 5G networks which can be deployed on public, private and hybrid clouds.
As operators deploy 5G, they require complementary and fully interoperable policy and charging capabilities that accurately monitor and monetize diverse services, including new use cases. The combined solution from Enea and MATRIXX is fully microservices-based, making container orchestration seamless on cloud-based architecture for operators to quickly introduce new services and be able to monetize them rapidly.
Marc Price, CTO of MATRIXX Software said, “5G introduces fundamental changes to the way policy and charging work for evolving services. It’s more important than ever for operators to embrace cloud native principles that empower distributed networks. Enea’s microservices-based, API-first design complements MATRIXX’s solution to provide a competitive edge for operators supporting new revenue models, including edge-based applications and services delivered with network slicing.”
“The partnership with MATRIXX is a very natural fit for Enea,” said Roland Steiner, Senior Vice President, Telecom Business Unit at Enea. “We share a common ethos and vision for the development and future of cloud-based architecture, making the combined solution scalable and future-proof. Just as importantly, we both recognize that operators cannot afford for 4G and 5G networks to operate in silos, which is why our Policy Manager encompasses the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) for 4G and Policy Control Function (PCF) for 5G.”
According to the GSMA, 4G and 5G will both grow over the coming years and by 2025, 4G will still account for more than half of all connections. With the combined charging solution provided by Enea and MATRIXX, service providers will benefit from a simplified and cost-effective monetization solution capable of powering them as they transition to next generation networks.
