Open Enea Linux – the next step proving Enea’s open source commitment

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, February 20, 2014 – Enea® (NASDAQ OMX Nordic:ENEA) proves its firm commitment to the open source community with substantial contributions to the Yocto ProjectTM and the Linaro Networking Group (LNG). The next step in Enea’s open source commitment is offering the community Open Enea Linux – the first fully open embedded Linux commercial distribution and ecosystem, for a range of highly popular development boards.

Open Enea Linux is a light and portable embedded distribution with desktop-like scalability and ease of use, plus an open source, Eclipse based, development tools suite. The web site http://www.openenealinux.org gathers everything needed to download, deploy and customize Open Enea Linux, including means for technical discussions and interaction with Eneans and others.

Open Enea Linux aims at covering a wide range of popular development boards, including all types of architectures. The strategic alliance between Enea and Freescale Semiconductor resulted in the selection of the TWR-P1025 as the first board to be supported.

“Open Enea Linux brings desktop development commodities to the embedded scene, adding significant value to application developers”, said Daniel Forsgren, SVP Product Management. “The brilliance of Open Enea Linux resides on enabling prototyping and solutions in the networking, telecom, defense and industrial markets in an extremely rapid and cost-effective manner”.
