US Cable Operator Selects Aptilo to Enable Attractive Wi-Fi Services for MDUs

CTIA SUPER MOBILITY, LAS VEGAS – One of the top five cable operators in the United States has selected Wi-Fi service management solutions from Aptilo Networks to add value to their internet and phone services delivered to multi-family dwelling units, or MDUs.

The cable operator is using Aptilo Service Management Platform™ (SMP) to incorporate carrier Wi-Fi services into basic broadband packages for residents, allowing the MDUs to upsell communications services with the addition of carrier-grade Wi-Fi.

With Aptilo SMP, operators and MDUs can access usage statistics, monitor and alter Wi-Fi allocation based on the need for bandwidth, and even upsell access to, for instance, allow more devices than included in the basic package. The Aptilo MDU solution also offers online signup for Hotspot 2.0 providing a secure and encrypted Wi-Fi connection using EAP-TTLS. Furthermore, it provides support for onboarding devices to a personal virtual LAN concept. This allows the user to create a private network within the network for all of their devices – such as printers, video game console and other devices – which will be hidden from other users.
