Enea NFV Access and Lanner uCPE Solution Certified on Verizon Wireless Network
Certification to Verizon Open Device Initiative reduces time to market for 4G LTE-enabled uCPE solution from Lanner and Enea
Lanner Electronics, the leading Whitebox Solutions™ provider, and Enea, a supplier of innovative software components for telecommunications and cybersecurity, today announce the certification on the Verizon Wireless Network of Lanner’s NCA-1515/L-1515 platform with the Enea NFV Access virtualization software for Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE).
The certification to Verizon's Open Development Device Initiative (ODI) enables a product to connect to the Verizon Wireless network seamlessly. Communication service providers and enterprises deploy open disaggregated uCPE and virtual network functions with support for LTE and 5G interfaces. Providing an ODI pre-certified platform shortens the time for deployment of uCPE and SD-WAN use cases and offers instant revenue opportunities.
The certification of the Lanner-Enea uCPE solution follows a baseline certification of the NCA-1515/L-1515 generic x86 platform. By working closely with Verizon Wireless to enhance the certification benefits, Lanner and Enea certified Enea NFV Access as the virtualization and management software for the NCA-1515/L-1515, providing a complete, certified uCPE platform for virtual network functions (VNFs) such as firewalls and SD-WANs.
The combined solution with LTE certification enables a vital transport link for mobility and fail-over. LTE connectivity is becoming an essential requirement in uCPE deployments with single and dual-carrier deployment options to serve either as a backup or as a primary path where other network interfaces have limited availability. Smart SD-WANs use intelligent traffic steering to get the most out of available transport links, ensuring consistent performance and availability to business applications without the use of MPLS. Optional LTE paths for uCPE deployments provide link fail-over if the primary transport link experiences packet loss, latency, or failure. Most 4G LTE modules offer two or more SIM slots, enabling connectivity to more than one mobile network.
"The Verizon ODI certification of this combined Enea and Lanner solution gives the service providers and enterprises the option to leverage the Verizon Wireless network instantly and to serve the device and with that the application, as an alternative or even primary networking path, without the need for additional cost and time," said Sven Freudenfeld, CTO Lanner Electronics.
“Thanks to this certification, system integrators and enterprises will benefit from easy deployment and short time-to-revenue on the Verizon Wireless Network,” said Jean-Philippe Lion, Senior Vice President, Enea Enterprise Business Unit. “It also confirms the increasing importance of uCPE as a mainstream platform for enterprise networking.”
