Enea shares insights for the year ahead and unveils new solutions for operators at MWC

Don’t be surprised. Be ready. That was the message we wanted to convey at Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona. There’s a reason this event is a main fixture in the calendars of mobile operators, not least because it’s the most influential and well-attended connectivity event in the world. Almost 90,000 people attended this year’s four-day event, and the Enea team had on-location meetings with over 100 customers, analysts, and partners to discuss business opportunities and how network efficiency and security could be enhanced in the coming year. Read on for our MWC 2023 highlights.

Releasing our Trends Report

“Don’t be surprised. Be ready” was the leading line in our 2023 Trends Report, which we released to coincide with MWC. The report covers several new trends that we expect to shape the mobile industry in the coming year and beyond, focusing on everything from signaling security and data observability, to one of the biggest elephants in the room: the cost of energy and the need for operators to streamline their operations.

Announcing a powerful new partnership

In addition to the release of our annual trends report, we also made two key announcements. We revealed that we would be joining the Microsoft Azure Operator Nexus Ready program, making our suite of tools more readily available, with more choice in pre-validated solutions for operators that want to unlock the potential of 5G and ensure a faster time to deployment.

Launching Enea’s Dual-Mode Policy Manager

We also unveiled our plans for the Enea Cloud-Native Dual-Mode Policy Manager. This policy control function will enable mobile operators to develop diverse policy use cases for subscribers and IoT devices in cloud-native deployments. Crucially, it will utilize the cost and consistency benefits of a single, common subscriber profile, as well as the scale to handle real-time policy decisions in 4G and 5G. If the challenge for network operators is to provide consistency across network access, including 5G Standalone and 4G, while transforming to a cloud environment, our dual-mode policy manager is the solution.

Insightful presentations featuring our latest research

Other highlights from the event included our Head of Technology, Cathal Mc Daid’s presentation at GSMA SEC CON. Cathal discussed his latest findings on The Mobile Network Battlefield in Ukraine, and participated in a panel on Building Resilience in Mobile Networks, along with other security experts. Enea AdaptiveMobile Security’s Head of Business Development, Simeon Coney, took part in a Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF) panel exploring the best ways to solve SMS phishing (smishing) and spoofing proactively. Stephanie Huf, CMO and Head of ESG at Enea, also participated in a MEF panel discussing diversity and inclusion. It was a great opportunity to share our expert insights with live audiences. If you attended any of our presentations or panel sessions and want to learn more, please contact us.

Enea nominated for two prestigious awards

Enea was also proud to have been shortlisted for two prestigious awards. Enea AdaptiveMobile Security was nominated for a GLOMO award for the second consecutive year, this time for our Network Protection Platform in the Best Mobile Security Solution Category. Our 5G Interconnect Security solution was also nominated in the Global Connectivity category of the MEFFYS Awards.

Telesamana paid a visit to Enea’s MWC booth

Finally, our VP of Product Development, Osvaldo Aldao, was interviewed by TeleSemana, with questions focusing on the complexities of 5G security and the importance of a proactive cybersecurity strategy. You can catch Osvaldo’s interview here. If you didn’t manage to meet our team at MWC, you missed out on some freshly baked cinnamon rolls as part of a traditional Swedish ‘fika’ (a coffee break with pastries) and a relaxed mingle event at Enea’s stand, where we were able to connect with prospects, customers and industry partners. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, we look forward to seeing you again next year!
