Enea Announces Planned Support for Cavium Networks OCTEONTM II Multicore MIPS64 Processor

Enea's Family of Platform Software Delivers Accelerated Time-to-Deployment, Lower Risk and Lower Total Cost of Ownership for Designs Based on OCTEON II Processors.

Enea® (Nordic Exchange/Small Cap/ENEA), a global software and services company focused on solutions for communication-driven products, today announced its planned support for the OCTEON II Processors from Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications, storage, wireless, video  and security applications. This will enable customers using the OCTEON II platform to leverage Enea's substantial family of platform software in applications for wireless infrastructure such as 3G, WiMAX, and LTE.

As a Cavium PACE (Partnership to Accelerate Customer End-solutions) member, Enea already has mutual customers with Cavium Networks using a broad range of Enea software and services including the Enea® OSE family of Real-Time Operating Systems, the Enea Netbricks® family of advanced networking protocols, the Enea® Element Systems Management Middleware, and the Enea Polyhedra® DBMS products. An emerging area of interest with customers is the Enea® dSPEED platform, a unique and powerful data plane management solution that fits squarely the growing need to manage increasingly large and complex farms of specialized processing cores.

"We are seeing a tremendous amount of joint customer demand for our platform software solutions and the current OCTEON Plus family of processors," said Terry Pearson, vice president of marketing for Enea. "With the extensive performance and power improvements coming in the OCTEON II platform, and the growing demand for highly integrated platform solutions in both the control plane and data plane, we see a great opportunity for our combined offering."

"Enea delivers a comprehensive set of platform software solutions and value added professional services to our shared customers that are central to the successful and accelerated deployment of those customers' innovative products," said YJ Kim, Senior Director, Embedded Processor Group, Cavium Networks. "As we launch our OCTEON II Processors into the market, we welcome the support of leading ecosystem players like Enea who complement our offering.  Together we provide a robust and powerful foundation on which our customers can build the communications products of tomorrow."

The recently announced Cavium Networks next generation OCTEON II Internet Application Processor (IAP) family is designed for the next generation of Hypernetworks serving enterprise, data center, access and service provider markets which require support for converged data, voice and video. The OCTEON II target applications include switches, routers, appliances, equipment for 3G, WiMAX, LTE, wireless LAN, and unified storage systems and adapters. The OCTEON II family integrates 1 to 32 MIPS64 cores, up to 75 Application Acceleration Engines for quality of service, packet processing, TCP, compression, encryption, RAID, de-duplication and regular expression processing, up to 400Gbps of DDR3 memory bandwidth, and up to 100Gbps of network connectivity while consuming only 2W to 60W across the entire family.
