Enea® Linux the first commercial Linux distribution with Yocto ProjectTM 2.1

Enea Linux 6 with new networking profile available now!

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, August 9, 2016 – Enea® (NASDAQ OMX Nordic:ENEA), providing software platforms and services to the connected society, today announced version 6 of Enea Linux; A comprehensive cross-development tool chain and runtime environment for common target architectures, bringing customers the absolute latest advancements in open source technology.

Enea introduces Enea Linux 6 a new Networking Profile designed for communications challenges, based on the latest Yocto Project version (2.1) and configured for the NXP QorIQ P2041 Multicore Communications Processor. It is optimized for balanced throughput and latency, suitable for data plane acceleration (DPDK, USDPAA), and includes sRIO, IPsec, core isolation etc. as additional functionality.

“The open source model lacks defined support and customer-specific adaptations, but Enea takes on the typical challenges faced by customers who build the distribution themselves”, said Daniel Forsgren, SVP Product Management, Enea. “Enea provides distribution and build systems with customer-tailored Linux kernel configurations and BSPs, and offers a range of services addressing unique customer requirements on embedded Linux. Enea also provides prompt help with world class support, and best-in-class trainings in partnership with the Linux FoundationTM”.

Enea Linux is built with Network Function Virtualization (NFV) use cases in mind, where high throughput, low latency, determinism, and virtualization capabilities are important characteristics. Earlier this year, Enea announced Enea Linux 5 to be among the prominent “Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) Registered” Linux distributions.
