Enea's test process is based on many years' experience of testing within both large and small organisations. We illustrate our assembled skills in a practical way through step-by-step descriptions of how one plans and performs testing in an effective manner. We explain and teach how to use the process primarily through our training courses, but also through mentor support to projects and organisations.
In order to achieve high product quality despite limited time for testing, demands a carefully prepared test strategy supported by firmly established guidelines. This becomes even more important when the product life-cycle becomes shorter due to tougher competition.
Because development projects can be of varying size and complexity, the process is adaptable to each suitable level. The test process is based on a model with nine steps that starts with an analysis of what shall be tested, and finishes with an evaluation of the test-related work so as to learn from the experience for the next project.
The test process:
- Is designed for system tests and can be used for both client/server and built-in systems.
- Is constructed so that one can choose the desired ambition level. The level can be everything from a simple basic model to a comprehensive model that can be used in safety-critical applications.
- Is risk-based, which implies that one selects and performs test cases based on the largest identified risks in the system.
- Supports parallel, incremental and iterative development. It can be beneficially used together with RUP either as a supplement or independently.
- Can be used in both large and small projects.
Is not dependent on test tools.
