ConfD NETCONF

ConfD NETCONF is a management agent for the new XML-based NETCONF protocol for automated configuration of network devices. NETCONF allows devices to expose an XML-based API to the network operator. The NETCONF Interface provides an implementation of the NETCONF protocol, as well as a complete mapping from NETCONF operations to configuration database operations for either the Embedded XML Database or a configuration database of your choice. As with all of the ConfD management interfaces, the ConfD engine automatically renders the NETCONF interface from a common XML configuration specification, eliminating the need for time consuming coding and testing.

  • Faster time-to-market – With powerful wizards, rich editing features and standard Cisco/Juniper command styles, rapid implementation is realized.
  • Reduced development costs – Easily extensible and new functions need only be instrumented once and auto-rendered consistently in a shared XML model.
  • Advanced management capabilities – Capabilities include transaction management, validation, and rollbacks, as well as robust security features.
  • Developer friendly – Well documented, easy to use with support for syntactic and semantic code validation as well as support for automatic schema upgrade and downgrades.

ConfD NETCONF allows developers to rapidly generate a production quality NETCONF interface for automated configuration management. NETCONF minimizes the need for CLI scripting and manual configuration; thereby reducing costly sustaining engineering and reducing disruptive configuration errors. Powerful configuration management features like transactions, validations, and rollbacks are embedded into the NETCONF protocol and ensure that all configuration changes are either made consistently or returned to a prior known configuration.
