Enea Joins SA Forum

Readies AIS-Compliant High-Availability Middleware Services

San Jose, CA. January 31, 2007 – Enea (Stockholm: ENEA.ST), the world leader in advanced device software for network equipment, today announced that it has joined the Service Availability Forum (SA Forum). Enea will work with other SA Forum members to develop and implement standard hardware and software interfaces for high-availability management services that foster multi-vendor interoperability and enhance portability.

Enea is a leading provider of high-availability middleware solutions for distributed telecom systems. The company’s best-in-class  HA middleware solution, Element™ 2.1.0, complies with the SA Forum HPI (Hardware Platform Interface) specification. Later this year, Enea will also begin rolling out AIS-compliant services.

The SA Forum is a consortium of industry-leading communications and computing companies who are working together to foster an ecosystem for creating high availability network infrastructure products, systems and services using commercial off-the-shelf building blocks. To achieve this goal, the SA Forum develops and publishes high availability and management software interface specifications while promoting and facilitating their adoption. SA Forum membership offers the opportunity to help frame and implement the Service Availability solution.

“Now is the time for standards-based middleware solutions,” said Terry Pearson, vice president of product management. “Delivering standards-based interfaces is a key directive in our corporate strategy, so joining the SA Forum was a natural step for Enea. We plan to lend our expertise to advance a number of SA Forum specifications that are currently in the definition stage. We are also committed to implementing those specifications in our products.”

“We are pleased to welcome Enea to the SA Forum,” said Asif Naseem, SA Forum President “The industry is turning the corner in understanding the value of standards-based, commercial-off-the-shelf solutions, and we are seeing rapid traction of HPI in the marketplace. With the launch of enhanced specs focusing on new and updated services on the horizon, we anticipate seeing broad adoption of the AIS in 2007.”

Element is a suite of scalable, high-availability middleware services that sit between the operating system and applications. Built atop Enea’s LINX interprocess communications foundation, Element extends the functionality of embedded operating systems, providing advanced distributed communications and management functionality typically associated with large enterprise operating systems.

Element provides core services for synchronizing, instrumenting, monitoring, and establishing communications between applications spread across multiple operating systems and processors. Element also provides network supervision, fault management, and shelf management services that make it easy to monitor, repair, configure, provision, and upgrade live systems as they operate in the field.
